Getting started

Is this a Mahjong game?

It is a scorekeeper for a real-life American Mahjong table of three to five players using one iPhone. Bring your own tiles and hand card. Tap Get started, answer two quick questions about your table, then choose an annual membership to start your first night. Learn shows who pays what under your table's rules, a practice hand and quick answers; it is not a complete course in the game.

Which hand value should I enter?

Enter the value printed beside the winning hand on your own card: tap it from 25 to 75, or choose Other. Choose the winner and Self-pick or Discard, then Used jokers, Jokerless or Singles & Pairs. The preview shows everyone's score change before you save. Review the scoring rules when setting up a night; your table's convention may differ.

Can we play with three or five?

Yes. Choose the number of players when you set the table. With three, the other two players pay. With five, one player sits out each hand and doesn't pay or receive; the app suggests who's next and you can change it.

What is a wall game?

A hand with no winner. Tap Wall game on the Tonight tab to record it with no score change.

How do I record a penalty?

Tap Adjustment on the Tonight tab, choose who pays and who receives, and enter the amount your table agreed on. It changes balances but isn't counted as a hand. The app doesn't decide penalties.

What do negative scores mean?

Balances show net gains and losses across the night, so all players' balances add to zero. Win counts are separate. In Dollars mode, each printed hand point equals one cent before bonuses, and Review & finish suggests the fewest payments to settle up. The app never transfers money.

Your nights and records

How do I fix a mistake?

During play, tap the latest hand or expand All hands and choose a hand to correct or delete it. For a finished night, open Nights, select the night, expand Every hand and tap the hand. Undo removes the last entry. Totals update automatically. Recap images you have already shared stay as they were.

How do I fix a player's name?

Tap the player on the Tonight tab or in Records and enter the correct name. It updates that player in every saved night; scores and wins stay the same.

How do I keep a player's win record?

When setting up another night, choose an existing player with the player button or use the same saved table. A matching saved name shows Saved player · keeps their record. Give people distinct names or nicknames so their records stay separate.

Can I recover records on a new phone?

This version does not have its own cloud sync, backup or full-history import. Your Apple device backup may include app data, depending on your settings. Restore purchases restores membership access, not your saved nights. Share any recaps you want to keep before deleting the app.

The app cannot open my nights. What should I do?

Try again, restart the app and check for an app update. Contact support with the error shown if it continues. Avoid deleting the app while troubleshooting: local records may be lost. The app does not replace unreadable records with an empty history.

How do I remove my data?

Open About & settings with the three-dot button and tap Delete profile and all data. It removes every night, player, record and setting on this iPhone and returns to the welcome screen. It does not cancel a subscription. Deleting the app also removes its local data. There is no Mahjong Night account to delete. Trials and membership

Do I need a membership?

Yes. Plus is required to start your first night and any new night. You can go through the introduction and practice hand before subscribing. One membership covers your whole table; only the person keeping score needs the app. Eligible accounts may receive a seven-day trial. Saved records, corrections, sharing and an active night remain accessible after membership ends.

How does the seven-day trial work?

Eligible Apple Accounts can start a seven-day trial when the offer is shown. After the trial, the annual price shown at purchase is charged unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

I paid, but cannot start another night.

Connect to the internet. Tap Restore at the bottom of the membership screen, or open About & settings using the three-dot button and tap Restore purchases. Use the Apple Account that made the purchase. If Apple says the purchase is pending, access starts after approval and confirmation. If access still does not return, contact support before buying again.

How do I cancel or request a refund?

Use iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Mahjong Night, or Manage subscription in the app. Deleting the app or your profile does not cancel a subscription. For refunds, use Apple's Report a Problem service.

Does the app work offline?

Scoring, Learn and saved nights work offline. Loading an offer, purchasing, restoring and updating membership status require an internet connection. Membership access uses the most recent status available through RevenueCat, so reconnect if it needs to be refreshed.
